A new adaptation of YUKIO MISHIMA’s text and traditional NOH play
by ZEAMI.
Imagine the city. Imagine a slow descent through its shadowed gaps,
through a window between buildings, into the lustful and fabricated realm
of “the couturier”.
Through the eyes of Iwakichi, the janitor, see the veiled surface of love,
and the macabre, empty world of desire. A man transformed into his ghost
cannot escape death. Liminal brings light and darkness to the beauty and
horror of desire. Nesting one inside the other - see corporeal imaginings,
moving images, and costumes, original live music and a floating stage
- metamorphose and mesmerise.
Liminal Theatre and Performance is a context for the following artists
and associates to work together to create THE DAMASK DRUM: Robert Draffin,
Mary Sitarenos, Alan Knoepfler, Ivanka Sokol, Paul Robertson, Raffaele
Rufo, Ina Indira Shanahan, Jessie Willow Tucker, Luke Hails, Jethro Woodward,
Claire Nicholls, Mandy Hildebrand and Richard Whitehouse.
